Nourishing Foods for Hair and Scalp, Part 2

Hello, and welcome back! In our recent post, we began looking at some healthy foods that stimulate and help maintain a healthy scalp and strong, radiant hair. More specifically, we focused on foods that combat dandruff and split ends, which include fish oil, delicious sweet potatoes, protein-packed nuts, and citrus fruits. We also looked at foods that help reduce hair loss like protein-rich meats and fish, and calcium-packed dairies like cottage cheese. In today’s post, we’ll continue exploring some of these hair-friendly foods as they relate to specifically to hair growth. Continue reading below to learn more.

Foods to Stimulate Hair Growth

Whether you want a new look or want to regrow your hair out after cutting too short, using a booster serum in conjunction with these super foods nourish the scalp, allowing hair to grow faster, longer, and stronger.

  • Almonds and sunflower seeds will make your hair grow faster and thicker. Almonds contain high amounts of the biotin, a water soluble B-vitamin that stimulates rapid hair and nail growth, which is also great for the scalp and skin. Sunflower seeds are packed with vitamin E which increases blood flow to the scalp and encourages faster hair growth.
  • Avocados have a high concentration of essential fatty acids which are found in the skin cells. Eating these green goodies has many health benefits, but actually applying avocado to the hair and scalp promotes collagen and elastin production, which makes the hair grow healthy and strong.
  • Eggs really are incredible, as they are an excellent source of healthy omega-3s, protein, and biotin. Eating only the egg whites has other health benefits, but if you want long, gorgeous hair, eating the egg yolks is the way to go. Eating too many egg whites can actually limit the body’s ability to absorb biotin, which can interfere with hair growth.
  • Bananas are a great source for vitamin-B, potassium, calcium, carbohydrates, and natural oils which nourish the scalp and hair. You can even mash up bananas and make a hair and scalp mask for added shine and to treat dandruff.
